A Study On Guo Xiang's “Nature”

The current academic research on Guo Xiang's concept of “nature” is mainly reflected in the following two aspects: First,based on the perspective of the topic of“Naturalism and Humanism”,to explore how Guo Xiang merges both the Naturalism and Humanism,and tries to answer Guo Xiang integrated the purposes of the two,thus pointing out the application of the theory in the field of political practice;Second,based on the text of “Commentary on The Chuang Tzu”,to explore its connotation and purport.The author believes that Guo Xiang's “natural” concept is a philosophical insight.The analysis of its deeper connotations has yielded a lot of achievements.The author is on this basis,to further in-depth excavation.Trying to point out that Guo Xiang re-assigned ontological significance to “nature”.Explain that Guo Xiang derives the highest category of “nature” from the series of concepts of“Zi” and “Ran”.Therefore,this article is divided into three chapters to discuss: The first chapter,from the etymological point of view,examines the etymology of “Zi” and “Ran”respectively,analyzes the expression habits of the two characters in ancient books,and thus summarizes their related meanings.Analysing Lao-Chuang's how to construct the “Nature”,and basing on this,will further explain that “Nature” is not used to express the real part of judgment.It does not constitute the actual “what” of every thing,but refers to what it is and what it does.The original appearance of human beings and the people's recognition of this state of being as it is-this philosophical implication;Chapter two,Summarizing the life and work of Guo Xiang and analyze the theme of his time from Cao-Wei to the Xi-Jin Dynasty and its political background of the instrumentalization of his regime and individual life,its academic background of the relationship between Naturalism and Humanism.Explain the theoretical pioneers of Wang Bi,Ruan Ji,and Ji Kang.And discuss the relationship between Naturalism and Humanism.In the third chapter,based on the text of “Commentary on The Chuang Tzu”,examine Guo Xiang's reconstruction of the concept of “Nature”,and then point out Guo Xiang's reinterpretation and redefinition of “Zi” and other forms of expression of the concept of “Nature”;Comparing the corresponding conceptual series such as “self-nature”,“self-born”,and“principle”,and discussing the relationship between the concept of “Nature” as the highest category with its sub-concepts;Expounding the Ontological meaning of the concept of “Nature” which dispelling the Ontological meaning of “Tao”and“Non-being”.
