Becoming A Translator:An introduction to the theory and Practice of Translation is a tutorial written by Douglas Robinson,an English professor at the University of Mississippi,for undergraduate,graduate and translator of translation majors.This book is the third electronic library version published by Lutridge's in 2012,the book is about 100,000 words.The translation project select Chapter 5 Starting with people: Social interaction as the first key focus of translators experience of the world,is about 10,000 words.According to Peter Newmark's text theory,informative text refers to texts that are mainly used to convey information and reflect objective facts.Its language is generally not personal,and often uses ordinary collocations and patterns,such as teaching materials,academic writings,and conferences reports and so on.However,this book is an academic course written by Douglas Robinson for undergraduates,postgraduates,and translators of translation studies,it is an informative text..In the process of translation,the functional Skopos theory has been adopted.The translation task was divided into three levels to analyze the translation method.Word extension was used at the lexical level.At the sentence level,amplification translation,reversed translation,and omission were selected.At the cultural level,the use of Chinese four-character and annotation method were selected.Through this practice of translation,the level of translation has been improved,and the language knowledge has been further improved,laid the foundation for the future translation work,and accumulated some experience for the future translation practice.
