With further development of international economic and commercial integration,an increasing number of Chinese enterprises have been participating in global business competition.The source text of this translation report is commissioned by China Machinery Industry Construction Group Co.,Ltd.(SINOCONST).The task is the first part of Installation of Turbine Inlet Air Cooling at FARAS Power Plant,with 17,000 words in all.This project document is the cooperation project between Saudi Power Plant Company and SINOCONST.The original text of the report is a typical engineering text,so the language is very concise and objective.With the guidance of Skopos theory,this paper discusses that the three principles of “purpose”,“coherence” and “fidelity” should be followed in translation practice.And the author analyzes the guiding role of Skopos theory to engineering texts in combination with the difficulties encountered in translation.The author uses translation skills such as conversion,division,amplification and literal translation to analyze the examples of translation,and demonstrates the necessity of applying these skills to the translation of engineering texts.In the process of translation,the experience and the subsequent reflection of the difficulties and skills to deal with them can bring guiding significance for the future translation practices.
