In our country,Buddhism and Taoism are the two most influential religions in China.Taoism was the earliest institutionalized religion in China,the Eastern Han Dynasty was gradually flourishing,the northern and Southern Dynasties gradually improved and became more “national religion” to the Tang Dynasty.Buddhism originated in India,which was introduced into China during the Han Ming emperor,flourishing in the Wei-Jin period Dynasties,and the monasteries and nuns of the monasteries in the Tang Dynasty also spread throughout the country.The prosperity of the two religion of Buddhism and Taoism has provided a fertile soil for the development and prosperity of ancient Chinese novels.Especially from the Wei-Jin period to the Tang and Five Dynasties,the “Zhiguai fiction”that inseparable from spirits and grotesque is present a splendid sight.The influence of Buddhism and Taoism on the literati and their works is often interwoven,but it shouldn't be ignored,When the two religions assimilate and merge with each other,because of the actual interests of their development,there is still more fighting between the groups,especially under the influence of the religious policy of “emphasizing Taoism and restraining Buddhism”,the conflict of Buddhism and Taoism in the Tang Dynasty is extremely fierce.The situation is also reflected by novels,and the category of the novels “The conflict between Buddhism and Taoism” has its own narrative paradigm and characteristics.In addition to the introduction,the text is divided into four parts.Chapter one: the concept of Buddhism and Taoism Novels and the definition of the object of this study.In ancient times,the concept of the novel was ambiguous,and the concept of broad fiction wouldn ' t be used purely a yardstick for today's standard.This article will adopt the concept of broad sense.While in the Tang and Five Dynasties classical Chinese novels,there are many works about Buddhism and Taoism,since this article focuses on the conflict between Buddhism and Taoism,the object of study should be narrow sense Buddhism and Taoist novels.Among them,this article pays special attention to the works of the representative religious disciples.Chapter two: The political vortex and the conflict between Buddhism and Taoism.Because the Buddha and the Taoism are generally limited to the political power,this chapter aims to comb the development of the Buddhism and Taoism under the influence of the political forces.And to clarify the general situation of the conflict between the Buddhism and Taoism,mainly from the“Laozi Huahujing ”and the important history events of four emperors to extinguish the Buddha.On this basis,this article explores the religious identity of the writers of Buddhism and Taoism novels,and explores the inspiration of The conflict between Buddhism and Taoism to the creation of Buddhism and Taoism novels in the Tang and Five Dynasties,in order to clarifies the religious background of the category of the“conflict between Buddhism and Taoism”novels.Chapter three:the Buddhism and Taoism novels of the Tang and Five Dynasties under the conflict of Buddhism and Taoism,take the novel text as the starting point,select the five parts of the Taoist novels of Du Guangting,the “Gan-Ying-Yuan”of the“Fa-Yuan-Zhu-Lin”,and the“Miscellaneous Morsels from Youyang”of Duan Chengshi as the research object,screening and sorting out the “conflict between Buddhism and Taoism”novels.Starting from the most influential religious disciples and their works,the two religions of Buddhism and Taoism are taken into account,so as to take a more comprehensive view of the two religions conflict in Tang and Five Dynasties novels.Chapter four : The influence of the conflict between Buddhism and Taoism on the creation of Buddhism and Taoism novels in the Tang and Five Dynasties.On the basis of the study of the novel text,this article tries to study the narrative paradigm and characteristics of the“conflict between Buddhism and Taoism” novels.This paper divides the novels of “conflict between Buddhism and Taoism”into two different narrative models: “direct struggle” and “side struggle”,and discusses the influence of the conflict between Buddhism and Taoism on the Buddhism and Taoism novels' creation concept,the selection of story themes,and the shaping of characters.
