Study On The Miao Phonetics In Tuhe Xishui County

This thesis deals with the Miao phonetics in Tuhe Xishui County.Based on the investigation,the description method is employed to describe the Miao phonology in Tuhe,which discovers the phonemes of the two speech societies are 39 initials and 36 initials srespectively,21 finals and 7 tones.With synchronic comparison method,the second chapter presents a comparison of the Miao phonetics in Tuhe and those in Dananshan and analyzes the corresponding law of the Miao sounds in Tuhe and those in Dananshan.It is suggested that the Miao sounds in Tuhe are characterized by forward and posterior shift,palatalization,voicing of voiceless sounds,the loss of nasalized aspirated affricate/the loss of pre-nasalization of affricated initials and the combination of tones.Language is developing and changing,so in Chapter Three we use diachronic comparison method and consult with Reconstruction of Proto-Miao language by Mr.Wang Fushi to analyze the evolution of Tuhe Miao phonetics,including the loss of pre-nasalization in proto-aspirated pre-nasalized affricates,affricated laterals and plosives,the voicing of voiceless sounds,and the loss of uvulars.Meanwhile,obvious intergenerational phonetic feutures is discovered in Tuhe Miao phonetics.From the perspective of language acquisition and language contact,the present study attempts to explain and analyze the causes for the evolution and intergenerational phonetic feutures of Tuhe Miao phonetics.The research findings provide a reference for later scholars to further study the evolution of the evolution of Tuhe Miao phonetics.The research methods of fieldwork,descriptive method,comparative method and literature review are applied in this study.The theoretical knowledge used is mainly language acquisition and language contact.Due to the short of theoretical knowledge,it is unavoidable that the analysis of the causes of the phonetic evolution and the of intergenerational phonetics feutures in the Miao phonetics of Xishui county is not theoretically persuasive or the explanation is not complete.Therefore,the relevant study on this aspect remains to be further studied.
