The Social Complexity Of XingLongWa Culture

The culture of Xing Long Wa is a relatively early archaeological culture in the process of complicated prehistoric society in eastern Inner Mongolia and Western Liaoning Province.It is the beginning of the study of the early social complexity in the region,and has a certain value of research.This article uses a lot of research methods about the archaeology,such as settlement archaeology,social archaeology and cognitive archaeology,basis on the fully collecting,summarizing and sorting out previous studies,through the way of quantitative analysis,put forward assumptions and verification,to interpretation in the social level with the whole and the local of XingLong Wa culture.And all of these foundations is the content of reports.The full text is divided into seven chapters and nine parts.The introduction part defines the space-time scope of the research object,combs the brief history of the study,introduces the different definition and understanding of the stage of social development,and selects the basis for the division of the social stage in these views as the breakthrough point of the study on the research of social complexity.The first chapter gives a brief overview of the modern geographical environment and the Holocene climate which the culture of XingLongWa is distribution.From two aspects of macroscopical and microcosmic,the second chapter analyzes the formation,distribution and housing layout of the cultural settlements in XingLongWa depression.By the change of the number of houses in different periods in Chahai,we can see the trend of changing in the populations.Taking the distance between the housing sites as the basis for discussing the relationship between the people of the unit house site,the Cultural Society of the Xing Long wa was divided into five levels on the basis of the blood relationship organization.The third chapter discusses the building structure of the culture from the aspects of door,stove,pillar hole and cellar.From the aspects of walls,stoves,residential areas and housing construction,this part analyzes the architectural techniques of XingLongWa culture.The functional areas of some housing sites were also classified.The fourth chapter makes a statistical analysis of the distribution of pottery,stone ware and jade on the living surface of the site of Chahai.Based on this statistical analysis,the development of handicraft industry in Xing Long wa culture was analyzed,and the social complexity factors reflected in the production technology were briefly discussed.From the use of stone tools and pottery,the fifth chapter analyzing the acquisition,processing and production methods of animal and plant resources in Xing LongWa culture.The number of tools in different periods reflects the trend of economic development in different periods of social development.The sixth chapter analyzes the supernatural consciousness of the culture with the burial and ritual intermediary.The dragon shaped pile sculpture is an important embodiment of the collective behavior of the ritual culture.The seventh chapter analyses the unequal phenomenon in the society according to the theory of power center,and stratified its social organizations.The conclusion summarizes the main points of the study from four aspects: settlement form,subsitence economy,ideology and power stratification.
