The Study Of The Neolithic Cultures At Liaohe Basin

Settlement archaeology is an important theory in the study of archaeology.Since Mr Chang kwang-chih,introducing the concept of "settlement archaeology",the excavation and study of settlement archaeology has practiced in Chinese archaeology.It has been proved to be a more scientific and effective archaeological excavations and research methods,especially in the research of prehistoric archaeological cultures.The prehistoric archaeological cultures in the Liaohe basin is an important component of China's prehistoric origins of civilization.Xinglongwa culture,Zhaobaogou culture and Hongshan culture constitutes the liaohe basin neolithic culture evolution sequence.Since the 21st century,with the growing of the archaeological data for Liaohe basin,the research on the neolithic settlements in Liaohe basin is increasing.However,a comprehensive research on a particular settlement and the comparision between settlements at different times are still lacking.Baiyinchanghan site is one of the neolithic cultures at liaohe basin.It has relatively rich cultural remains.It contains the most important three prehistoric cultural forms-Xinglongwa culture,Zhaobaogou culture and the Hongshan cultures' settlements.In the same geographical environment,the Xinglongwa culture's settlement with initial concentration of power and a simple social division of labor,had liberated the effective of the productive forces,made the settlement expanded systematically and gradually.The settlement with the most complex social structure and the highest spiritual civillization,is also the largest one in the three stages.Although the settlements of Zhaobaogou culture and Hongshan culture had more advanced productive technology,but the social structure is too simple to made the social structure more complex.So the settlements of Zhaobaogou culture and Hongshan culture dropped behind the earlier settlement of Xinglongwa culture.
