A Report On The E-C Translation Of The Voice

The translation task selects the English novel The Voice by William L.K.as the source text.In the novel,the scene description is vivid and the psychological portrait is delicate,which can represent the style of the author and has translation value.The translator chooses Verschueren's adaptation theory to guide the translation according to the characteristics of the source text.It is hoped that the translation can better convey the author's intention and adapt to the cognition of the target readers.The adaptation theory emphasizes that the language choice must conform to communication environment and communication object.The same word and the same expression have different meanings in different contexts.So the report,mainly based on the contextual correlates of adaptability,explores the translation methods of the novel.The translator mainly makes choice of language from the mental,physical,and social dimension so as to enable the target readers to obtain the source information to the maximum extent.In the translation of the novel,the translator combines the adaptation theory with the translation practice and solves some difficulties of the translation.It provides an improvement direction for the translation to achieve contextual adaptation,which could be used as a reference for the guidance of the adaptation theory to the translation of novels.
