Writing is an important course in English teaching.It requires English learners to grasp the rules of the English language and develop proper writing habits.But owing to the difference between Chinese and English,junior middle school students are faced with many difficulties at the beginning of writing English compositions,hence making a lot of errors in their writings.So it's very important to analyse the errors existing in their English writings.This paper aims to work out the problems in primary school students' English writings and offer strategies for improving the quality of their English writing.Based on Error Analysis theory and Contrastive Analysis theory,this paper,by using the questionnaire method and error analysis method,aims to investigate the errors and teaching strategies of English writing in the rural junior middle schools.The author intends to explore the following three questions: Firstly,what is the present situation of junior middle school students' English writing? Secondly,what are the main errors in the English writings of junior middle schools students? And what are the reasons of their errors? Thirdly,what is the correlation between the students' English writing attitude,writing habits and their writing errors?Through the analysis of the data collected,the author draws the following conclusions: Firstly,the present situation of junior middle school students' English writing is not optimistic in the rural area,which is mainly manifested in the students' writing attitude and writing habits.Secondly,the students' errors are mainly language errors.Thirdly,there is a significant negative correlation between the students' writing attitude,habits and the numbers of their composition's errors.In other words,the better students' writing attitude and habits are,the fewer errors students make in their English compositions.Based on the analysis of the data collected,the author makes the following suggestions for English teachers.1)Pay attention to the students' mastery of grammar knowledge form the beginning.2)Strengthen the contrast between Chinese and English and promote the change of thinking mode.3)Stimulate students' interest in English writing by improving teaching methods.4)Lead students to have active writing attitude.5)Cultivate students' good English writing habits.
