One of the cores in the General High School English Curriculum Standard is the emotional attitude,which includes motivation interest,confidence will,cooperation spirit,motherland consciousness and international vision.Pygmalion Effect can also be called the Rosenthal Effect,which is a kind of emotional function.As high expectations to students,the students are interested in learning,and finally to get good results.It based on the English curriculum standards and current situation at the school.,senior high school teachers adapt the Pygmalion effect in English teaching.Based on the researches done before;this paper was conducted by surveys,interview and observations.There are two parallel classes from Grade Two of Luchuan No.3 middle School in the experiment.One is the control class which apply Pygmalion Effect.In the other one,the reference class,the teaching continued using traditional teaching methods.The paper tries to prove :(1)Whether Pygmalion effect can motivate high school students.(2)Whether is useful in improving their English learning ability.Then,the author analyzed the collected data by SPSS.The results show that emotional attitude and grade between the two classes is almost the same before the experiment starts.At the conclusion of one term experiment,the results revealed that both the interest and the grade in the control class are obviously improved.This verified and gave answers to the questions mentioned above.It could be concluded that it is possible and more effective to adopt the use of Pygmalion Effect for the teaching of English learning.The author believes that the study will have important direct reference value for English teachers to teach in senior high schools.It will also offer value for teaching in senior high school English textbook.
