Reading is a crucial way to obtain information in our daily life,and English reading is an important scale to measure students' comprehensive language competence.But,there are many problems like one-size-fits-all teaching mode during the real reading teaching.However,the flipped classroom,a new kind of teaching mode,has broken through the time and space constraints of the traditional teaching.Teachers can optimize their teaching according to students' need,and students can also study at their own pace.This thesis attempts to apply the flipped classroom to the English reading teaching in senior high school,which aims to stimulate students' interest in English reading,and foster their autonomous learning competence and cooperative learning ability,and finally enhance their English reading achievement.This thesis is an experimental research,which has two classes of the first-year students in a senior high school as its objects.There are 56 students in each class,and the teaching experiment lasts for four months.Research instruments are questionnaires,tests paper and interview.During the experiment,the teacher adopts the flipped classroom mode to teach English reading in the experimental class,and uses the teaching method based on the textbook language points in another class.Two questions have been researched on,“Can the flipped classroom enhance high school students' English reading achievement?” “Can the flipped classroom improve high school students' interest in English reading?” Before the experiment,the researcher collects the students' scores of senior high school entrance examination.The result shows that there is no significant difference between the two classes and the first survey is conducted in the two classes.After the experiment,the researcher conducts the English reading test for both classes.And the researcher analyses students' scores by independent sample T test.Through the comparison of the data between the two classes,the result shows that the achievement of the experimental class is higher than that of another class.In addition,the second survey is conducted in the experimental class.Then,12 participants are selected in the follow-up interview,which aims to make the data of this research more reliable and authentic.Finally,two conclusions has been drawn on this thesis based on the analysis of the data.For one thing,the flipped classroom can enhance high school students' English reading achievement.For another thing,the flipped classroom can increase high school students' interest in English reading as well.
