The Factors That Influence Live Streaming Simultaneous Interpretation And The Coping Tactics From The Perspective Of Effort Model

With the development of science and technology,many new internet media platforms,such as iQIYI,NetEases and Tencent,have come into being.These platforms have started to cooperate with translating service platforms to provide online live streaming for large press conferences held both at home and abroad.The development of these new video platforms has given simultaneous interpreting a wider and broader stage.However,unlike traditional simultaneous interpreting,online live streaming interpreting has its own features,which lead to new difficulties and challenges for the interpreters.During online live interpreting,it is hard for the interpreter to get feedback from the audience.And also,there are technical problems such as inconformity of image and voice or other emergency situations that could happen on the scene.This report is based on the text of Google I/O in 2017.The interpreted version of this text is transcribed from the official live platform Tencent Video.After an analysis of the audio version of simultaneous interpreting and the original video of the speech,the writer summarizes errors that the interpreters made during the interpreting process: omission and misinterpreting.Under the guidance of Daniel Gile's Effort Model,the writer studies the causes of these errors and puts forward several basic interpreting tactics on the basis of syntactic linearity.The writer tries to help the readers better understand this new type of interpreting,and hopes that this report could bring some inspirations to interpreting learners,researchers and practitioners.
