A Report On The Translation Of Nutshell(Chapter Eleven To Fourteen)

Fiction with great imagination can always develop readers' minds.This report was written on the ground of the translation of a fiction named Nutshell,which is full of imagination and creativity.It states a plot same as Hamlet from a fetus' s view,which will inspire readers' minds in an active way.The translator chooses chapters eleven to fourteen of Nutshell as the source text.By means of examining its author and related works,the translation of original text has been accomplished.Based on the translation text,this report was written through the guidance of Adaptation and Selection under Contextual Theory,namely,the combination of Contextual Theory and Theory of Translation as Adaptation and Selection.Under the guidance of translation theories,various translation strategies such as tone shift,addition,shift of word class,shift of culture features,adjustment of word order,division and metonymy are applied to solve those difficulties occurred in translation.During this translation practice,the translator realizes that it is significant to manage the shift between Chinese and English language environment and grasp the features of different languages.As a distinguished book of ethics,Nutshell has depicted completely figures' inner thoughts and humanity.Therefore,the Chinese version of Nutshell can bring some references to readers who can also consider deeply of the positive function of ethic novels.In addition,owing to the lack of knowledge on literary fictions and cultural background,the author may make some mistakes in understanding.The author will pursue his study in this field and take a further step to improve the quality of this report.
