A Study On The Japanese Translation Of Architectural Terms Based On Translation As Adaptation And Selection

Architectural terminology carries the architectural culture.Terminology translation is the key work in cultural communication.Through the research,it is found that the translation study of architectural terms is mainly from English one,while Japanese translation study is neglected.The research on the translation of architectural terms from the perspective of translation adaptation and selection theory is insufficient.This paper takes the architectural terminology and its translation in“Picture Book of Chinese Dwellings ” as the research object,takes the theory of translation adaptation selection as the theoretical basis,and analyzes the architectural terminology and its daily translation in “Picture Book of Chinese Dwellings ” through the methods of literature research,comparative analysis and descriptive analysis.The purpose is to explore how to use different translation techniques for adaptation selection and conversion in the translation of architectural terminology.This article consists of the following parts.The first chapter introduces the research background,research purposes,research contents and research methods of this paper.The second chapter makes a research review from the perspectives of Chinese dwellings,terminology translation and architectural terminology translation.Based on the literature review of China and Japan,it finds out the limitations of literature review and the establishment of this article.Foot point;The third chapter analyzes the translation ecological environment of architectural terms in“Picture Book of Chinese Dwellings ” through the perspective of translation adaptation and selection theory.The fourth chapter summarizes the translation methods and strategies of architectural terms in “Picture Book of Chinese Dwellings ”through detailed examples.The fifth chapter is to explain the shortcomings of this paper and future topics.The research shows that when there is a corresponding language in the target language translation ecological environment and the cultural connotation is consistent,the corresponding language in the target language ecological environment is selected to complete the adaptation selection conversion.When translating terms that contain Chinese architectural culture,literal translation and annotation are adopted to preservethe characteristic language and cultural information of the source language.For building terms that are difficult for detailed language readers to understand,the method of notation and annotation is adopted to facilitate the understanding of target language readers,which is beneficial to the smooth progress of cultural exchange between China and Japan.
