Study On The Construction Of (X) Kan P Zen Me Y

As the construction(X)Kan P Zen Me Y is a very common linguistic phenomenon in oral Chinese.This thesis is based on Three-Plane Theory and Construction Grammar Theory,exploring the construction's meaning,discourse function,cognitive motivation and validating the construction(X)Kan P Zen Me Y.The thesis is divided into five parts.The first part is the introduction.Mainly introduced the significance of the topic,situation,objects and methods of the research in this paper.The second part is constructional meaning investigating.Firstly,analyzing the motivation of(X)Kan P Zen Me Y,and according to construction grammar we predicate the rationality of this structure.Secondly,component analysis of the “(X)kan P zen me Y”,which includes the part of “X”,the part of “kan”,the part of “P”,the part of “zen me Y” and analyzes the appearing and disappearing of “X”.According to the discussion of each part,we reached the three meanings of this structure,including “Reminding someone that something bad may happen”,“Warning someone to change his actions to avoid the bad results”,“Warning someone the results severity of something”.On the basis of Beijing Language and Culture University BCC corpus,this thesis investigated and analyzed the parts of the structure,using the chart to show the parts of speech distribution function.The third part is the study of discourse function.There are three parts included.Firstly,this research analyzes the structure's distribution of compound sentences and investigated recessive quantity.Secondly,we studied linguistic focus.And [+highlight] [+comparison] are two discourse functions of this structure.Thirdly,this thesis researched the purpose of the construction.From the pragmatic presupposition,we get three purposes of this construction.The forth part is cognitive motivation investigating.This section,from the subjectivity and chunk combination,we got that this construction is the outcome of combined action of speaker's perspective and speaker's affect.Highlighting the objective events' high challenge and the listener's subjectivity weak ability.It present that the speaker emotion's transforming.As the construction(X)Kan P Zen Me Y is disposition construction,which consisted by four parts,the disposition background,the reminder ingredient,the disposition subject,the disposition pattern.Because of the evolution of the construction and principle of economy of language,this construction generally used in conversational communication.The fifth part is the conclusion.Summarized the achievements and shortcomings of this study.
