As an important bridge to realize the exchange of scientific and technological theories and the sharing of achievements,Sci-tech translation is no longer confined to the activity of pure text translation, but regarded as a social activity involving multiple fields.Pierre Bourdieu, the famous sociologist, points out that culture has penetrated into all areas of society and influenced social activities in various fields as a kind of "Capital".Using the theory of Cultural Capital for reference, foreign and domestic scholars have studied the relationships between translation versions, translators and markets. They have carried out relevant translation researches in the fields of economic, literary translation and community interpretation.Translation academics have paid increasing attention to the Cultural Capital, but none of them studies the English translation of Chinese scientific dissertation from the perspective of Cultural Capital.Based on the three forms of cultural capital — the embodied, the objectified and the institutionalized forms, this paper makes an initial connection between the Cultural Capital and the English translation practice of “Highprecision Pt-Resistor Thermometric System”.In order to value, maintain or accumulate the cultural capital in the process of translation, the translation methods are discussed as follows through case analyses — standardization of terminology and formula translation to value the institutionalized cultural capital;disposal of verb and voice to maintain the objectified;sentence reconstruction and word omission to accumulate the embodied. Finally, the translator analyzes the problems in the translation process and proposes related solutions, aiming to provide some instructive experience and improve the translation quality.
