Vocabulary is the basis for learning a language.The greater the amount of vocabulary that a person has,the better he will be in English learning.Vocabulary teaching is an important part of junior high school English teaching.Some students lose their interest in learning English because they do not find a way to remember the words.So teachers should seriously think about such problems as how to effectively carry out vocabulary teaching,how to cultivate students' thinking ability in vocabulary teaching,and how to make students take the initiative to consciously remember the words.Task-based teaching method,with its interactive and good memory effect,is favored by more and more teachers.At present,the use of task-based teaching methods is mainly concentrated in listening,speaking,reading and writing.In the junior high school English teaching,the application of task-based teaching method in vocabulary teaching is also developing fast.As a junior high school English teacher,the author tries to apply the teaching method to junior high school English vocabulary teaching.The research attempts to solve two problems.First,is the task-based teaching method more efficient in vocabulary acquisition than the traditional teaching method in Chinese junior middle schools? Second,which teaching method can enhance students' interest in vocabulary acquisition,the task-based teaching method or the traditional teaching method? The researcher selected two equal-leveled classes as samples.The task teaching method is used in the experimental group,and the conventional classroom teaching method is used in the control group.Before the teaching experiment,the students had a pretest to identify whether they have significant difference in English competence in the beginning.Three months later,the students had a post-test.Finally,the test result is processed through SPSS to perform sample t test.After the teaching experiment,students from the experiment group and part of the school teachers receive a questionnaire investigation and an interview respectively to give their views on task-based language teaching in Chinese middle schools.The experimental results shows that the task teaching method has a very obvious advantage in junior middle school English teaching,that is,it can make a positive effect on improving the effect of English vocabulary teaching in junior middle school,and this teaching approach can greatly enhance students' interest in learning vocabulary.The study also found that task teaching faces some difficulties,such as teachers' lacking of organizing task-based language teaching class and language fossilization,which deserve teachers' attention.This essay is divided into five parts.The first part mainly elaborates the purpose,background and significance of the research.The second part mainly summarizes the latest research progress and the related theories about the task teaching method athome and abroad.The third part is the methodology of the teaching experiment and the specific implementation;the fourth part is the analysis and discussion of the results;the fifth part is the entire paper research conclusions.
