Reader Awareness And Methods For Translating A Hiphop Book From English To Chinese

This thesis discusses translators' reader awareness and methods for translating a book on hiphop from English to Chinese by a case study of the translation of Hiphop Raised Me.Before putting forward methods based on reader awareness,the author sums up the textual features of Hiphop Raised Me and the expectations of target readers,and then analyzes the application of reader awareness in the process of translating a book on pop culture with specific examples.The author proposes several translation methods,including adding indicative and explanatory information properly,correcting error information,using more short sentences in narrative paragraphs and dealing flexibly with dirty words in quotation,which may facilitate the transfer of information from original text to the translation and reduce the loss of emotional elements in original text demonstrated by colloquial style.
