This paper is a case study on the Chinese-English translation strategies of a book,A Study of Jewish Refugees in China(1933-1945):Facts,Theories and the Chinese Model from the perspective of reader awareness. The research of Jewish refugees is always a subject of heated discussion in the world. This book could reveal the stories of Jewish refugees in China to the world and serve as a support for China to discuss the issues about Jewish refugees in the world. In order to make the translation more accepted by the targeted readers as well as meet their expectations,it's indispensable to apply reader awareness to the translation of this book. This paper introduces many problems caused by the lack of reader awareness,i.e.the text is hard for readers to understand due to the usage of Chinglish and the lack of cultural background. The paper also offers solutions to some problems and presents how to apply reader awareness to the translation so as to improve reader's acceptability,i.e.making the translation conform to English language habits and English way of thinking, revealing hidden information, and deleting or replacing some words that may cause the conflicts between national cultures. This paper is expected to exert some influences on other book translations.
