Exploring Pause And Hesitation In Consecutive Interpreting From English Into Mandarin

Fluency is a significant indicator for a quality interpreter.The author of this thesis has studied interpreting for two years and has also worked as an interpreter at real conferences or lectures.But the author has realized that pauses and hesitations are very common in her interpreting.This thesis focuses on pauses,especially inappropriate pauses in consecutive interpreting.It will try to define inappropriate pauses,to figure out the different causes of inappropriate pauses and to give some suggestion to tackle inappropriate pauses.
