The teaching of English writing has always been the focus and difficulty of English teaching in the secondary vocational schools. Many English teachers spend much energy and time in imparting various English writing methods and techniques to students. They expect to achieve breakthrough and improvement of students' English writing ability through joint efforts of teachers and students. However, there are still many students who become jittery at the mention of English writing and it is difficult for them to write satisfying English compositions.Plenty of teaching methods for improving students' English writing ability have been used and achieved certain results.Despite the rise of various teaching methods, traditional recitation language input is still the focus of some researchers. There are numerous studies on recitation language input in China and abroad, but there are not many studies that combine recitation language input with English writing of secondary vocational school students. With regards to this,on the basis of previous studies, the author takes the students, who come from two graduating classes of a secondary vocational school,as the research subjects and uses an experiment and a questionnaire to explore how to effectively acquire and consolidate the vocabulary and chunks required for secondary vocational school students' English writing output and how to effectively improve their English writing ability by using recitation language input and the secondary vocational school students' attitudes and opinions on recitation language input.According to the comprehensible input in Krashen's language input hypothesis and the importance of the practice in Swain's language output hypothesis, this study mainly aims to explore the effectiveness of recitation language input in improving students' English writing ability in secondary vocational schools. It attempts to answer the following three questions:(1)What effects does recitation language input have on the vocabulary and chunks required for secondary vocational school students,English writing output?(2)What effects does recitation language input have on improving students' English writing ability in secondary vocational schools?(3)What are the attitudes and opinions of secondary vocational school students on recitation language input? The subjects of this study are chosen from two parallel classes with a total of 75 students. In the course of this study, the author uses one class in which the students specialize in Mechanics as the experimental class and the other class in which the students major in Mechatronics as the control class. There are 39 students in the experimental class, including 22 boys and 17 girls. There are 36 students in the control class,25 boys and 11 girls included. There is very small difference in the English ability between the two classes. The results show that recitation language input helps to acquire and consolidate the vocabulary and chunks required for secondary vocational school students' English writing output, effectively improves their writing ability, and secondary vocational school students have a positive attitude towards recitation language input. Most students think that recitation language input is an effective way to improve their English writing. This study has certain guiding significance for the teaching of English writing. The author sums up three suggestions for the future teaching of English writing in secondary vocational schools.First of all, teachers should understand the correlation between recitation language input and English writing. In the process of training students' English writing, teachers should use recitation language input to improve the accuracy and fluency of English writing of secondary vocational school students so that better results will be achieved.Secondly, teachers should inspire and guide students to use recitation language input to improve their English writing. Finally, teachers should encourage students to accumulate good writing words, phrases and sentences by reciting excellent English model essays, and help students master the basic skills of word combination and sentence construction so as to achieve effective output.
