Grammar plays an important part in English learning and it is the primary method to master English.However,it is known to us that grammar is extremely complex and vapid for teachers.Hu Chundong,the famous educator in our country,pointing the English teaching problem that in china teachers stress the knowledge impart and elaboration in deta il while ignore the daily practice and drills;pay more attention to writing than speaking,emphasize grammar structure analysis and understanding rules while neglect the use of grammar or the application of practical examples.According to The New English Curriculum Standard,it requires teachers to change the traditional teaching mode in grammar and advocates the advanced teaching method strongly.During the teaching,teachers are the guiders by designing some meaningful and specific situations which are related to the students' life and experience.Consequently,situational grammar teaching method meets the requirements of The New English Curriculum Standard,besides,it is the best way to promote students' learning initiative.In such a circumstance,the multimedia-assisted teaching method plays a tremendous part in designing the scenes.With the help of the multimedia-assisted situational teaching method,teachers can create a harmonious learning atmosphere to make students master the grammar points,and finally achieve the teaching goals.Based on the Constructivism,Krashen's Second Language Acquisition Theory,the Situated Cognition Theory and the Intuitive Principle of Cognition,this thesis applies the multimedia-assisted situational teaching method into English grammar teaching in the rural junior middle school.And during the teaching,students can participate in the class activities willingly,meanwhile,they can master grammar points better than before.Compared with the traditional situational grammar teaching method,the multimedia-assisted situational grammar teaching method is superior,and the researcher discusses the two problems as follows.The first one is that whether the multimedia-assisted situational teaching method can change students' attitudes towards grammar learning or not? Can the multimedia-assisted situational grammar teaching method improve students' achievements?In order to test the effectiveness of the multimedia-assisted situational teaching method in grammar,this thesis adopts the following four research instruments: questionnaires,tests,class observations and interviews.During the research,the experimental class applies the multimedia-assisted situational grammar teaching method while the controlled class uses the traditional situational grammar teaching method.The data of the tests and questionnaire are analyzed by SPSS 17.0.After five months experiment,the researcher collected and analyzed the results and came to the conclusion that the multimedia-assisted situational grammar teaching method can improve the students' achievements and enhance the students' attitudes to grammar.Last but not least,the researcher summarized the limitations and gave some useful suggestions to the future research.
