In the wet and rainy environment,Zhejiang province preserved the ancient buildings since the Tang Dynasty,such as Ningbo Baoguo temple,Tianyi pavilion Library,Hangzhou Liuhe pagoda,sutra pillars of Brahma temple,Shaoxing Bazi bridge,Wuyi Yanfu Temple,Dongyang Lu house,Shiwang house in Jinhua and so on.These architecture shows both the contemporary style and Local characteristics,occuping a certain position in the history of Chinese architecture.The values and characteristics of most of these ancient architecture were not recognized by people before scholars' survey.From the dual perspective of the history of architectural history and the history of cultural relic protection,this paper takes a clue to the scholars and institutions who investigated the ancient buildings in Zhejiang Province to organize the investigation and achievements of the survey on the ancient buildings in Zhejiang Province in the first half of the twentieth century.Also,this paper will analyze their research motives,aims,perspectives and characteristics according to the background of the times.Through the collected data,this paper analyzes the significance of the survey data in three aspects,such as the recognition of the value of cultural relics,the protection and restoration of ancient buildings,and the related research and display.
