The Chronicle Of Guan Tong

The thesis consists of three parts,including"Exordium","Biography of Guan Tong",and "Chronicle of Guan Tong".The third part possesses most of the thesis,with the other two parts making complement.Exordium tells research statu of Guan Tong,the basement and purpose of my work.Although the cole of the thesis is to make a chronic for Guan Tong,the summarizing is not limited in researches on chronic of Guan Tong,which is a brief summary in all aspects of researches on Guan Tong.It is divided into four stages,where I just talk about the most important part,and leaving others away.Time of Jia Qing and Dao Guang is the first stage,when Guan Tong's teachers and friends focusd on the style and characteristic of his proses written in clsssical Chinese.The second stage is from Time of Xian Feng to Time of Xuan Tong,when thougts of statecraft in his proses had an important influence on common people.In period of the Ripublic of China,the third stage,researches on Guan Tong were flourish,which are made of literatural theories,anthologes and special comments.At the beginning of the forth stage,researches on Guan Tong were obstacled by policies in literature,which revived in late 1970s luckily.At present,researches on Guan Tong have made a great progress both in depth and breadth,following with a shortage of researches on foundamental information.Biography can be divided into three sections.Section one concerntrates on Guan Tong's family,including the population,achievements in imperial examnition,and living conditions of his family or cognition.Conclusions are:firstly,population of the surname is not thriving,there were almost no offspring who should be in favor of the cognition,because of death and separateness.Secondly,achievements in imperial examnition that had arrived at the peak at the time of his grandfather,have decreased sharply at the time of his father.As a result,when taking part in the imperial examnition,Guan Tong had no support from his family,who had to rely on himself.Thirdly,father's death in Guan Tong's childhood,leaving a poor economy,so Guan Tong had to make living to support his family here and where less than 20 years old.In section two,I am aimed at solving some questions,how and when Guan Tong makes recognition with Yao Nai,when he migratted from west of Jiangning City to east,when he began his study in Zhongshan Classical Academy,and so on.Conclusions are:he became a student of country school and made recognition with Yao Nai in the seventh year of Jia Qing.The first time when he studied in Zhongshan Academy,was between the seventh year and ninth year of Jia Qing.In the tenth year of Jia Qing,he began to make communications with Yao Nai via letters,and after 8 years,he studied Zhongshan Academy again,learning from Yao Nai who charged the famous academy.Section three,which makes an analisis on all his works,is consisted of three parts.The first part is a booklist,containing books belonged to Confucian classics,history,philosophy and literature.The frontal three are explianed in the second part,and the last one in the last part,which is the most important.Conclusions are:firstly.there are totally 6 versions of Yin Ji Xuan Corpus,including a block-printed edition of Guan pubished in the eleventh year of Dao Guang,a block-printed edition pubished in the fifth year of Guang Xu,a supplementary block-printed edition pubished in the ninth year of Guang Xu,two kinds of transcripts in Qing Dynasty,and an editon pointed by Shi Li Ye.Morover,there are two anthologies,one is Collection of Classical Proses of Qing Dynasty selected by Chen Zhao Qi,and the other is Collection of Essays on Statecraft of Qing Dynasty by He Chang Ling.Both of them are published before Yin Ji Xuan Corpus,so they play an significant role in emendation.Secondly,the first part of Yin Ji Xuan Corpus was arranged by Guan Tong himself,which named by Guan Tong as well,while the second part was arranged by Deng Ting Zhen and Mei Zeng Liang.Besides of Guan Tong,the chronile also includes some events about his son Guan Si Fu,that takes up less than one percent of the whole thesis.In the chronicle,I not only investgate the time and place of events happening,communication with teachers,friends and family members,but aslo analyse when and where he written down his works(including works collected by myself).At the same time,I try hard to explian the background of most of them,and make comments on their inheriting from the frontal writers and affecting to others' works.
