An Investigation On The Status Quo Of Language Service In The Public Service Industry

Language is a mirror of social life.In public service,language conflicts between the public and service agencies occur frequently.Based on the case of Lanzhou,this paper investigates several public service institutions through observation,questionnaire and interview.This paper studies the current situation of language service in the public domain,further explores the existing problems in language service,and puts forward suggestions for improvement,starting from three aspects of language use,discourse analysis and language evaluation.The first result shows that there are age and gender differences in language choice.The second result shows that the relationship between the provider and the receiver in spoken language service is not equal and written language service is the combination of horizontal and vertical social practice.The third result shows that public opinion on language service is polarized.We also have learned that the main factors affecting the language service in the public domain are the attitude of the staff and the expression of signs.We can promote the language service level by enhancing the service attitude,language environment,and so on,so as to improve the overall image of the city.
