Lunar Calendar,a novel written by Guo Wenbin, uses traditional Chinese festivals and solar terms as the name of each chapter. It focuses on introducing specific folk customs of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and calling for public awareness towards rural civilization and traditional Chinese culture.Based on the Chinese-English translation of the first two chapters of Lunar Calendar, this report plumps for domestication and foreignization as translation strategies under the guidance of Skopos theory. In the course of translation, the translator turns to domestication to translate dialects, short sentences and traditional philosophical thoughts, and the method adopted is mainly free translation. At the same time, the translator uses various translation skills to better serve the target readers such as footnotes, amplification, omission, conversion and so on.As for terms of folk customs and characters'names, the translator mainly adopts literal translation and transliteration under the direction of foreignization, making footnotes and explanatory words as supplementary techniques when necessary. In addition, the strategy of foreignization also plays a primary role in preserving the original author's writing intentions and unique writing style. It is anticipated that the report could attract more attention to folk culture and provide some help for translators who may go in for cross-cultural translation.
