On Aesthetical Characteristics Of Bai Xianyong's Novels

Bai Xianyong is a well-known contemporary writer in Taiwan and one of the world's representative writers of Chinese literature.For a long time,people tend to focus on the study of Bai Xianyong's novel creation characteristics,while few people have explored Bai Xianyong's aesthetic ideas and novel aesthetic characteristics.The reason why Bai Xianyong's novel creation has won everyone's favor lies not only in the unique artistic features of his novel creation,but also in the fact that the author penetrates his aesthetic ideas into his works,thus making his works richer in Ideological implication.This paper explores the formation of Bai Xianyong's aesthetic ideas and their influence on his novel creation from an aesthetic perspective.The paper consists of four chapters:Chapter one analyses the influence of Chinese and Western thoughts on Bai Xianyong's aesthetic ideas.Bai Xianyong's aesthetic ideas are integrated with traditional Chinese aesthetic thoughts and Western aesthetic thoughts.Influenced by the thought of harmony between man and nature in China,Bai Xianyong pays special attention to the unity of aesthetic subject and aesthetic object and the interaction between them.Influenced by Buddhist thoughts of compassion and impermanence,Bai Xianyong pays close attention to the miserable fates of all living beings and expresses their unspeakable pain with compassion.In addition,influenced by the western tragic aesthetics and the rebellious spirit of modernism,Bai Xianyong's aesthetic ideas have obvious tragic and rebellious spirit.Chapter two discusses the embodiment of Bai Xianyong's aesthetic consciousness in the novel from two aspects of tragic consciousness and life consciousness.Bai Xianyong is a writer with tragic aesthetic ideas.His novel creation always pays attention to all living beings,persists in taking people as the center,and pays attention to the living condition and spiritual predicament of individual life.This chapter discusses the tragic consciousness of the writers from three aspects: the tragic consciousness of the times,the tragic consciousness of the society and the tragic consciousness of the immigrants.Life consciousness is Bai Xianyong's real thinking about the existence of individual life.Based on his own life experience,Bai Xianyong observes and writes life with a broad mind and broad vision.This paper discusses Bai Xianyong's strong life consciousness from the characters' living predicament,lonely life experience and strong rebellious consciousness.Chapter three explores the influence of Bai Xianyong's aesthetic style on his novel creation from three aspects: the creation of atmosphere,the construction of aesthetic image and language.Bai Xianyong is a tragic writer.In his novel creation,he is good at creating a desolate and lonely atmosphere,rendering the tragedy of the characters,strengthening the theme of the novel and deepening the aesthetic implication of the novel.Moreover,Bai Xianyong collected rich aesthetic images from traditional Chinese literature and gave them new connotations,which made the novel full of strong classical implications.In terms of language use,the author perfectly integrates elegant classical Chinese words with modern vernacular Chinese in his novel creation,and is good at the elaborate description of details.Rich color words and emotional tone of the novel coincide,reflecting a kind of sadness.Bai Xianyong is a writer with rich aesthetic ideas.By studying his aesthetic ideas,we can not only get a deeper understanding of this great writer and his aesthetic ideas,but also help us to deeply understand and grasp his novel creation.
