Causes Of Disfluency In English-Chinese Consecutive Interpreting And The Coping Tactics

Fluency is one of the most important standards in interpretation.Scholars both at home and abroad have various definitions for "fluency".Based on the consecutive interpretation of a interview by Peter Thiel on The Economic Club of New York,the author tries to find examples of disfluency in English-Chinese consecutive interpreting.And by analyzing and concluding these examples,the author wants to find the common causes of disfluency and the coping tactics.The examples of disfluency in consecutive interpreting in the selected case can be classified into three types:pauses,repetitions and corrections.In the following chapters,the author seeks for the possible causes of the three disfluent types and tries to find out the respective methods.The author hopes this thesis can help the student interpreters improve their studying and help to solve possible problems related to disfluency in the future.
