The source text of this translation report is an excerpt from the 4th chapter of the book Student Development and Social Justice.This chapter is mainly about the model of community engagement in American Higher Education,namely the introduction of the Critical,Contemplative Community Engagement(CCCE)model,which provides a theoretical framework for institutions,communities and individuals to conduct the social justice-oriented community engagement.The source text can be categorized as an educational work of social sciences,which has many pedagogical terms and some culture-loaded words.Therefore,the translation task is moderately difficult.In the process of translation,combining with the characteristics of the text,the author adopts a combination of translation methods including literal translation and free translation,along with the translation techniques such as addition,omission,decomposition,merging and reorganization.The purpose is to make the translation as faithful as possible to the source text and conform to Chinese expressions.This report consists of four parts: The first part is the description of the translation task,which mainly introduces the source of the original text,the description of the work,the profile of the author,and the significance of choosing this theme.The second part is the description of the translation process,which covers the preparation before translation,the key points and difficulties in translation,and the review,polishing,and finalization after translation.The third part is the translation case analysis,which analyzes the difficulties and their solutions from lexical,syntactic,discourse and cultural aspects.The fourth part is the summary of the whole translation practice.The author concludes the report with the translation experience.
