Numerous researches have verified that action video game players(AVGPs)performs better than non-video game players(NVGPs)in a wide range of cognitive tasks,such as vision,attention,working memory,reaction time and speed-accuracy trade-off and decision making tasks.A lot of researchers carried out well-controlled training studies and have verified that action video game play makes contributions to cognitive enhancement.Some researchers assume one common cause to this finding: AVGPs' superiority of learning to learn.That is,in a new task,there is no difference between the performance of AVGPs' and NVGPs',but AVGPs improve performance faster than NVGPs.Some researches have verified AVGPs' learning superiority in perceptual learning and sensorimotor learning tasks.However,these two research conclusions can not interpret whether AVGPs' learning superiority is the cause of AVGP's better performance in cognitive tasks of other cognitive domain.Thus,experiment one in present study compared the learning ability differences between AVGPs and NVGPs in terms of three laboratorial cognitive tasks(working memory,attention control,and category learning tasks).Based on the conclusion of experiment one,experiment two used real-world scene search task,which is closer to real life,to compare the learning ability differences between AVGPs and NVGPs.Further more,this experiment explored the probable cause of AVGPs' learning superiority in the real-world scene search task.This study gets the following conclusions:1.AVGPs perform better in three different kinds of laboratorial cognitive tasks(working memory,attention control,and category learning task)because of their better learning ability.It provides new evidence for AVGPs' superiority of learning to learn.2.AVGPs could show superiority of learning to learn in real-life tasks,for example,real-world scene search task.3.The learning superiority of startup and target recognition is the cause of AVGPs' learning superiority in the real-world scene search task.The learning superiority of scan may also be a factor.
