| The website "World Capital of Roller Sports" is the official website of the 2016 FIRS World Roller Speed Skating Championships and 2017 Roller Games World Championships.The writer was engaged in this event as a member of media staff to translate the relevant sports news of News Center on the Website from Sept.10 to 18,2016.In this translation project,it is found that,sports news has its own distinguished features in addition to some general ones.Compared with other types of news about social life,it possesses strong subjectivity with relatively more emotional factors;declarative and imperative moods are often used and the speaker's standpoints and purposes are varied according to moods;more modal operators are applied in sports news for revealing reporters'attitudes and purposes explicitly or implicitly.Under the guidance of the theory of interpersonal function in Systemic-Functional Grammar raised by Halliday,by means of the mood,modality,and person systems,the writer adopts both literal translation and free translation with the help of multiple translation skills including amplification,omission,conversion,adaption,and back translation to restore the same interpersonal function as the source text does,and therefore achieve the same publicity effect.Based on the existing standards and specifications,this report expects to enhance the readability and acceptability of the target text and be conductive to the later translation practice of sports news alike. |
