Listening,speaking,reading and writing are four key skills to measure students’ language ability.English writing,as an important format of language output,has been the research emphasis of many researchers in the English teaching field.While in the English writing teaching,revising and giving feedbacks play important roles.In recent years,along with the continuous development of educational technology,there comes out various instruments aiding English language teaching.The application of AES(Automated Essay Scoring)system in universities and middle schools become more and more popular,studies regarding to the influence of AES system has had on students’ writing ability follow on.Although many studies have made achievements,the researches are mainly focus on the using of AES system in universities,and many of them are survey studies.Due to Pigai.org,the most famous and effective AES system in China,were used broadly in many middle schools in Shanxi province,it is necessary to study how middle school students use the Pigai.org to revise their writings.Sentence-based feedbacks are the crucial format of feedbacks of Pigai.org.Therefore,it is extremely meaningful to explore how students revise their writings using the feedbacks of Pigai.org.This study aims to learn the revising methods of the first year students of senior high school.Teachers and students who are involved in the study are mainly from following schools: Linfen No.1 Middle School,Pingyang Middle School,Taiyuan Empirical Middle School,Taiyuan Jinshan Middle School,Yuncheng Kangjie Middle School and Yangquan No.1 Middle School.This research studies students’ revising methods in the following three aspects:Firstly,what are teachers’ views of the feedbacks of Pigai.org?Secondly,how do students revise their writings using the feedbacks of Pigai.org?Thirdly,does the difference of choosing methods exert influences on improving students’ writing scores?And what are the influences?The author designed two questionnaires,they were both five-point Likert Scales.The teacher’s questionnaire studied teachers’ opinions of feedbacks of Pigai.org in general and from different dimensions.Students’ questionnaire mainly study the students’ different revising methods among different dimensions,including rule level,lexical level,grammar level,sentence level,contextual level,learning tips,knowledge expansion,shining point and suggested expression.Then the author analyzed the collected data using SPSS,and organized interviews regarding to the results of the data analysis,aiming to find out the reasons.Finally,the author compared the scores of pre-test and post-test of students from different levels to study the influence of different revising methods have on writing scores.The results showed that teachers generally approve the positive functions of the Pigai.org in English writing teaching,and pointed the advantages and disadvantages of the AES system simultaneously.The Pigai.org could boost students’ writing ability and students’ learning autonomy.It also could help students to correct errors at rule level,lexical level and grammar level obviously.Furthermore,the feedbacks of suggestion level could also help to improve students’ language ability.However,the AES system should still make progress at the feedbacks of sentence level and lexical level.Students rarely ignored the feedbacks of Pigai.org,and the difference of revising methods was not significant on revising errors in language.Nonetheless,students from higher level revised fewer errors at grammar level than the students from lower level and medium level,while they obviously more focused on the feedbacks of suggestion level than other two groups of students.According to the collected data,after the half semester’s application of Pigai.org,scores of students from lower level improved the most,and the writing scores of medium level students were also increased slightly,but the scores of students from higher level did not increase significantly and the average of amplification of scores appeared under 0.Additionally,most students from higher level reflected that the feedbacks of suggestion level helped more on improving their writing ability.
