This translation report is based on the E-C translation project of chemical technology academic articles focusing on activated carbon. The translation project involved 4 articles which take into consideration how to prepare adsorbent from palm shell or bamboo solid waste by using different activation methods like chemical or thermal activation and their applications. The source texts are a series of academic articles on activated carbon written by a certain well-known scholar.Since they are chemical technology academic articles, there are a few stylistic features as follows: 1)Rich terminology vocabulary and affix;2)Passive sentences, nominalization and long sentences are frequently used.Translation tools or techniques have been adopted such as chemical dictionaries and Trados software in the translation process.Difficulties encountered in translation are:1)Many terms are miscellaneous;2)Long sentences are used which are not consistent with Chinese expressions. And a few strategies have been adopted by the translator such as: literal translation, division and inversion which help to solve the problems in the process of translation.By review and reflection,it has been concluded that good translators should be equipped with five essential qualities and it is hoped to get some useful guidance in the relevant aspects in the future.
