This paper is a research report on the E-C translation of Uncommon Sense: Theoretical Practice in Language Education(Chapters 1-2).The book was written by an American teacher John Sawyer Mayher. The author put forward the importance of uncommon sense in the class through his years of teaching experience and his views on the American education. The book can help the people to understand the uncommon sense better. There is no Chinese version of Uncommon Sense: Theoretical Practice in Language Education in domestic when the translator start to translate the text,so the translation will become a important way for domestic readers to know the book and the author, and it also gives certain theoretical reference value for the researchers in the field of education. The translator takes this report as the object of study and elaborates on the completion of the translation practice by translation cases in the process of elaboration.Under the guidance of skopos theory,(Vermeer,Reiss,2014: 85)the translator puts forward corresponding solutions to different problems in translation practice so the translator can complete the translation tasks successfully. The methods are extra-textual annotation, division and the adjustment of sentences, replacement with logical conjunctions. The translator supplements the background information of the proper nouns in the article by extra-textual annotation so that readers can understand the overall background of the text. From the perspective of the logical relationship of sentences, the translator uses the method of dividing and adjusting sentences to solve the translation of long and complex sentences so as to make the translation more fluent. In terms of the semantic coherence, the translator translated successfully by replacement with logical conjunctions so that the readers can understand the sentences better. This paper puts forward strategies which may be applicable in rendering works of similar type. The writer hopes that this paper can provide a feasible reference for non-literary translation and the researchers in the field of education.
