There has been a new curriculum reform recently implemented in our country. The concept of this reform requires schools to pay attention to the development of students' abilities while teaching them. This allows teachers to guide students to gain knowledge and complete tasks in independent, exploratory, and cooperative ways. This reform states that teachers should stimulate students' learning interests, help them accumulate learning experience, and promote the formation of strong, independent learning habits.Incentive strategy is a new teaching strategy, which is gradually emerging under the new curriculum reform concept. It breaks the bondage of traditional teaching methods that place emphasis on the authority of teachers.Rather,it pays attention to the unique nature of each student. It mainly focuses on students' learning needs, and stimulates students' learning motivation through various incentive strategies. Its purpose is to guide students to form the habit of learning independently. When English teachers adopt incentive strategies, students will feel the teachers' attention. These strategies will make students engaged and excited to enter the English classroom. This will allow students to integrate into the English teaching environment, constantly exercise the English application abilities, and improve their English levels. This paper explores the use of incentive strategies in the classroom. The author studied the results of the pretest and the post-test of 86 students in the eighth grade of a junior middle school in Jilin Province.Based on the analysis of questionnaires and interviews, the author tried to identify the impact of incentive strategies in junior middle school English teaching. The author focused on how the students' learning attitudes, interests, motivations, and grades changed after the incentive strategies were implemented in these classrooms. The results showed that the incentive strategies resulted in more correct learning attitudes, improved interest and enthusiasm, and higher grades than implementation of achievement, competition, activity, reward,or punishment strategies. The author hopes that the results of this paper can provide some reference for other junior middle school English teachers when they explore the use and impact of incentive strategies. The author also hopes that teachers can pay more attention to stimulating students' learning motivation, rather than focusing solely on grades during the junior middle school English education stage.
