Chinese-English translation is one of the most important parts in college entrance examination;students' translation level can reflect the students' ability of natural transformation between Chinese and English as well as an important sign of students' comprehensive ability. However,in current regular high schools,it is reported that compared with other learning contents,Chinese–English translation learning is boring and monotonous. The learning content is too simple while the exam is too difficult. How to improve students' interest in Chinese-English translation and how to balance the narrow learning and the difficulty of testing is the key problem of the paper. In this paper, the author starts from the input theory and the output theory, uses appropriate strategies to create special Chinese-English translation exercises on the basis of the original learning, and persists in using the exercises in English class in the hope of improving the ability of regular high school students to translate sentence from Chinese to English. The author studies lots of literature and points out the insufficiency of Chinese-English translation exercises in today's regular high schools.Using text analysis, the author has found regular high school students are likely to make eight major mistakes when they do the Chinese-English exercises. Then the author puts forward the strategy of creating the Chinese-English translation exercises and sticks to using them in the class. The special teaching experiment in a regular high school demonstrates the practice of special Chinese-English translation exercised in the high school English teaching is a very effective teaching method, which can improve regular high school students' English ability. She then puts forward the feasible suggestions for the special Chinese-English translation exercises in high school, and finally points out the shortcomings of this study in order to better improve it.This thesis includes five chapters.Chapter 1 is the introduction, which contains the background, the contents, the purpose, and the significance of this study as well as the basic framework. The second is the literature review about this study. It briefly introduces the Input Hypothesis of Krashen and Output Hypothesis of Swain and their relationships to this study. The third chapter contains the common mistakes that high school students are likely to make when doing Chinese-English translation exercises and provides special Chinese-English translation strategies. The fourth chapter is empirical research, which proves the importance and feasibility of the application ofthe special translation exercises in the regular high schools under the new curriculum standard. The fifth is the conclusion part, including the suggested teaching notes, limitations, etc. It is hoped in this thesis that regular high school students can be equipped with the strategies to do Chinese-English translation with full confidence and interest and that many English teachers can benefit a lot from the strategies to create more feasible translation exercises and apply them to teaching practice.
