Grammar can help people express information and convey meaning in daily life.In order to produce meaning and promote communication, people's daily communication relies on grammatical rules to combine and organize words,to change parts of speech, and so on.Therefore, grammar has always played an important role in teaching foreign language.Grammar tests are needed to evaluate students' grammatical levels and understanding of English grammar. Therefore,it is also vital to analyze and evaluate the English textbook grammar practice parts. The results of grammar exercises can be used for various purposes, such as teaching feedback for teachers, grading students, and promoting students to higher levels. In China, high school English grammar teaching is mainly based on textbooks. The thesis will use the grammar practice sections of two widely used senior high school English compulsory textbooks as the content. With modern English grammar testing and three-dimensional teaching goals as the theoretical basis,it will utilize the text research method and comparative research method to analyze the grammar practice parts of two sets of five senior English compulsory books(a total of 10).The grammar exercises of the two sets of textbooks are characterized by: a myriad mechanical drills in the form of writing, little practice of extended-production exercises, along with scattered and unsystematic grammatical knowledge. The author summarizes and puts forward the following suggestions: “(1)Provide real situations and cultivate students' pragmatic communicative abilities.(2)Complete the grammar tasks within the stipulate time, for the teachers' evaluation.(3)Deepen the students ' systematic understanding of their syntactic knowledge. The relevant grammatical knowledge points should be summarized after the corresponding grammar exercises.” The author hopes to provide references and insights into teachers' teaching material and classroom teaching,so that teachers can optimize their teaching plans as well as design corresponding grammar activities for the purpose of more interactive classes and an all-around development of their students.
