Language learning is inseparable from the environment.In particular,the foreign language learning mostly happens in classroom environment.For the Chinese students,classroom is the main place for English learning.Hence creating an efficient English classroom environment is of great significance for English teaching.As we can see,a lot of researches focus on college English classroom environment,but a few researches focus on English classroom environment of senior high school.Moreover,most of the researches on English Classroom environment of senior high school are mostly in the eastern China,but there is few researches in Xin Jiang area.Based on Lewin's Field Theory,Murrray's Needs-Press Theory and Moos' s Human Environment Theory,this study adopts empirical method to investigate 312 Senior Two students in the same senior high school by means of questionnaire,in Yining city,Xin Jiang Uygur Autonomous Region.The description statistics and correlation analysis have been used to analyze the data.Moreover,the questionnaire in this study is The Middle School English Classroom Environment Inventory(MSECEI)complied by Liu Liyan and Liu Yongbing(2010),which divides English classroom environment into five dimensions as follows: Task Orientation,Teacher Support,Students' Cohesiveness,Cooperation and Class Order.This study aims to explore the correlation between English classroom environment of senior high school and students' English achievements.Specifically,two research questions are answered as follows:1.What is overall tendency perception of the current English classroom environment among senior high school students in Yining city?2.What is the correlation between English classroom environment of senior high school and students' English achievements?The results are as follows.First,senior high school students have positive perception of the current English classroom environment.To be specific,students have the higher perception of Task Orientation and Students' Cohesiveness while they have lower perception of Cooperation and Teacher Support.Secondly,there is a significant positive correlation between English classroom environment and students' English achievements.To be more specific,Task Orientation,Class Order,Teacher Support and Students' Cohesiveness have positive correlations with students' achievements while Cooperation has negative correlation with students' achievements.The results also indicate that the higher students' perception of English classroom environment is,the better students' achievements are.On the contrary,the lower students' perception of English classroom environment is,the worse students' achievements are.To sum up,the results reveal the importance of classroom environment and give English teachers great enlightenment to establish a positive and harmonious classroom environment.
