It's known that reading is an essential part of high school English teaching.It is 40 out of 150 points on the college entrance examination achievement chart,accounting for the largest proportion of the paper.National English Standards for General High School Curriculum(2017)pointed that English teaching is supposed be guided by thematic meaning and based on discourse,and it should include some learning contents,such as integration of language knowledge,cultural knowledge,language skills,learning strategies,so as to lead students to learn the knowledge in an independent and cooperative way thereby improving students' learning efficiency and learning ability.In order to live up to this goal,English teaching need to apply group cooperative learning.It's necessary for the English teachers to teach the students in various ways according to students' needs and their individual styles,so as to improve students' achievement of English reading.The school where the author serves is still adopting the normal method of English teaching dominated by the teachers.Some teachers might establish group cooperative learning when they carry out the English teaching,but the team members are selected randomly,and the teachers didn't provide their feedback and evaluation in a timely manner.Thus,this kind of cooperative learning team can do nothing for the formation of active independence among members.This paper hires some research methods,such as teaching experiment,questionnaire survey and interview,based on Constructivism theory and Group Dynamics theory to discuss the influences of group cooperative learning on students' English reading achievement and students' feedback on this new teaching mode.110 students are the subjects who are from class 5 and 6 in year one of Zepu No.2 senior High School in this paper.Class 5 is the controlled class,and Class 6 is the experimental class.The group is divided based on the grouping principle of Profession Pei Dina(1998)and the teaching experiment is conducted according to the group cooperative learning mode proposed by Slavin(1983).Then the test paper is used for the pretest and post-test of students' English reading achievement.Finally,author makes a survey of the students' behavior and attitude by the group cooperative learning questionnaire and interview of Professor Wang Duqin(2004).Finally,by taking advantage of SPSS17.0 social statistics software,this paper conducts statistics and analysis of the data.The results are shown as follows:(1)Compared with normal reading teaching,group cooperative learning have positive influence on students' English reading achievement.It shows that the application of group cooperative learning in high school English reading teaching can improve students' English reading more than the normal reading teaching.(2)After the teaching experiment,students held a positive feedback on the new teaching mode.It enlightens us that in the practice of English reading teaching,we should change the conventional teaching mode and adopt the method of group cooperative learning,which has a more positive impact on the improvement of students' English reading achievement.
