Review And Research On The Characters Of Chu And Han Dynasties In The Poems And Essays Of The Tang Dynasty

Liu Bang,Emper Gaozu of Han,is the founder of the Han Dynasty,which is one of the greatest dynasties in Chinese history.Sima Qian recorded his life story in Historical Records,which makes us still see a rich and full image of Liu Bang.Liu Bang in the history books has a multi-faceted image and complex personality,which also led to the comments of later generations.Today’s society mostly evaluates Liu Bang as a synonym for "rogue emperor" or praises him as a brilliant politician.The Tang Dynasty was the only dynasty in history that could be compared with the Han Dynasty.It was a crucial period for the acceptance and dissemination of Liu Bang’s image,and it had an important impact on the diachronic development and evolution of Liu Bang’s image.At the beginning of the founding of the Tang Dynasty,it laid the overall political tone for the evaluation of Liu Bang.The rulers praised Liu Bang,borrowed historical experience from Liu Bang’s historical facts,and promoted the gradual climax of Liu Bang’s evaluation.The system of imperial examinations and the mature and perfection of the poetry genre in the Tang Dynasty made Liu Bang’s evaluation subject move from the high court official to the ordinary literati and commoners,literary creation groups becoming diverse.From this,Liu Bang also entered a broader scope of literary acceptance.Besides,in historiography,Historical Records and Han Shu were widely popular,which also promotes the development and communication of Liu Bang’s image in the Tang Dynasty.According to the theme of Liu Bang’s poems and essays in the Tang Dynasty,they can be roughly divided into three categories: the Tang people’s comments on Liu Bang’s overall merits,on reasons for his success and on Liu Bang’s historical events.Through the careful reading of these poems and essays,we find that the literati in the Tang Dynasty uniformly had an affirmative opinion of Liu Bang’s exploits.The differences are mainly reflected in the evaluation attitude of relevant historical events.The general characteristics of Liu Bang’s evaluation and acceptance in the Tang Dynasty are mainly manifested in two aspects: from the perspective of image characteristics,Liu Bang’s image went to awide range of literary acceptance.During this period,Liu Bang’s images of“Salvation Hero” and “Sage Monarch” have been greatly developed.From the attitude of the literati’s evaluation,they held a general appreciation and affirmation viewpoints to Liu Bang.The poetry of“Satiring Liu Bang”in the late Tang Dynasty was formed in a specific situation and was an irrational evaluation attitude.Generally speaking,the scribes of the Tang Dynasty can stand on the historical and realistic perspectives and rationally and objectively evaluate Liu Bang.They lay emphasis on evaluating Liu Bang basing on his historical activities and political achievements,which weakens the personal morality.They hadn’t denied him because of his small shortcomings,which bring us enlightenment to the correct understanding and evaluation of Liu Bang today.
