The present report is based on the fourth chapter of A Brain-focused Foundation for Economic Science written by Richard B.McKenzie.In this book about economic science,McKenzie wants to shift the focus of economic science from the external world to the human brain. Moreover, from the perspective of neuroscience and cognitive psychology,McKenzie confirms his opinion that the human brain is the ultimate limited resource. In chapter 4,McKenzie introduces the prevalent economic principles, and analyzes the role of the human-brain in behavioral choice from the perspective of evolutionary psychology, which provides new perspectives and precious experiences for Chinese economic research. The translator adopts the literal and free translation methods based on the language characteristics of the translation practice materials and introduces the analysis of translation cases from lexical, syntactic and discourse dimensions. In terms of lexicon,it mainly deals with the translation of economic term, polysemy and change of order. The syntactic cases mainly include the translation of attributive clauses and passive sentences. The discourse cases focus on some textual cohesion and coherence devices, including reference, connection and ellipsis. In the last part, the translator sums up the experience in translation practice.Through the translation practice, the translator not only improves the translation ability, but also enriches the knowledge of other disciplines, such as economics and psychology. That will offer great help to the translator's future translation practice.
