The Research On Instrumental Accompaniment Art Of The Chinese Yangqin

Since the introduction in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties,Yangqin has been commonly used as an accompaniment instrument in both folk art and local opera,playing an important part in both genres.With the rise of folk music,Yangqin has also been introduced into the performance of folk instrumental music.After several generations of Yangqin predecessors' artistic practice and experience,the instrument gradually formed a traditional local style of music representing itself as well as developing the use of Yangqin as an independent accompaniment instrument widely used in various stages and settings.Reviewing the developmental history of the Yangqin,the instrument and its performance techniques have been continually improved and matured since the establishment of the major discipline in the early days of the founding of the country.The status of Yangqin as an accompaniment instrument has also received increasing attention,becoming the preferred accompaniment instrument for Erhu,Banhu,Dizi,Sheng,Ruan and many other Chinese musical instruments.Entering the 21 st century,Western music was introduced and spread widely in China.A large number of Western musical instruments were introduced into folk music accompaniment,amongst them the piano.Since then,many folk musicians had opted the piano as the choice of accompaniment,which indirectly affected the status of the Yangqin as an accompaniment instrument.This phenomenon has raised questions amongst some experts,as well as the author's attention.Through the writing of this thesis,the author hopes to carry out in-depth thinking and exploration,explore more possibilities of the accompaniment art of the Yangqin,raise awareness of Yangqin accompaniment art,unleash the full potential of the accompaniment function of the instrument,and reinstate the glory of the Yangqin accompaniment art with the joint efforts of everyone.
