This thesis mainly discusses the translation of economic texts under the guidance of Chesterman's Translation Norm with a case study of Structured Settlements:A Guide for Prospective Sellers.Chesterman's Translation Norms divides the norm into expectancy norm and professional norm, with the latter being further divided into accountability norm, communicative norm and relation norm. These four dimensions in the norm require that translation meet the expectancy of the target language readers in respect to grammar, acceptability, and style(GAS),thus turning the last three aspects into guiding and regulating elements in the translation process. The translation material Structured Settlements:A Guide for Prospective Sellers is a kind of economic text, featured by professionalism, jargons, substantive nouns, noun phrases and passive sentences, complex sentence structure, and tight logic. In order to perfectly convey the original information and make the target text meets expectancy of the target language readers, translators need to think how to choose proper translation skills from the syntactic level, semantic level and pragmatic level,.Chesterman proposes a systematic translation strategy under the framework of Translation Norms, including understanding strategy and productive strategy. With specific cases in view, this thesis discusses the translation strategies from three specific levels-syntactic level, semantic level, and pragmatic level--in economic texts translation in order to enhance the readability and acceptability of the translation, and thus explain the practical guiding significance of Chesterman's Translation Norms on economic texts.
