With the development of research into teaching methods of foreign languages,scholars at home and abroad have done a lot of research on English recitation and its positive effects on foreign languages learning.Based on the previous researchers' results,through questionnaires and interviews,the thesis selects 216 senior students in Suixi middle school to understand their current situation of recitation,find out problems and put forward the corresponding solutions.Three questions are addressed as follows:(1)What's current status of English recitation among students in this senior high school?(2)What are the main problems of their English recitation?(3)How should we propose reasonable solutions to existing problems?The main findings are as follows:(1)At present,high school students show contradictory attitudes towards English reciting.On the one hand,they recognize the importance of reciting.On the other hand,they are not enthusiastic about recitation with willingness,which indicates that senior high students' current situation of recitation is not satisfactory.(2)English reciting materials are not diverse enough,most of which are from English textbooks.(3)Students know the importance of recitation methods,but have not found effective recitation methods;reciting forms are monotonous;review is not timely;the recited knowledge is rarely put into practice(4)Moreover,through comparing data,this thesis finds that gender has an impact on students' English recitation and influences their reciting attitudes,cognition,frequency as well as effects to different degrees.Finally,according to the research,some suggestions for high school English recitation are put forward: realizing the importance of reciting,cultivating students' reciting interest;selecting reciting materials;creating flexible and changeable reciting forms;timely feedback and review;improving teaching environment of English recitation.
