The Impact Of The Facial Expression Controlon Emotional Face Recognition

The embodied emotional view holds that emotion is based on physical processing and is influenced by body structure,physical activity,body perception and experience.Facial expression is the most common explicit emotional representation.Therefore,it is important for individuals to study the influencing factors of facial expression recognition so as to promote the understanding of other people's emotions and adapt themselves to social life.Based on previous studies on emotional embodiment,this study explored the effect of facial expression control on emotional face image recognition.Aiming at the emotional consistency effect,local cue effect and facial imitation effect of emotional face image recognition,experiments 1,2 and 3 were designed.The purpose of Experiment 1 and Experiment 2 is to explore the effect of emotional coherence under embodied behavior.The experimental material used is a Chinese facial emotional picture system.Sixty undergraduates and graduates from Chongqing Normal University were divided into two groups: positive and negative facial emotions.The positive and negative facial muscular control methods were used to induce the corresponding emotional emotions,and the recognition-judgment paradigm was used to make the subjects recognize and judge the emotional facial pictures.The influence of facial expression control on the response time and accuracy of emotional facial image recognition.Experiments 3 were conducted on the basis of Experiments 1 and 2.The interference factors of facial image recognition under embodied emotions were further explored.The presentation material is from Chinese facial emotional pictures.The face pictures are divided into the upper half(eyes)and the lower half(mouth).The influence of local cues and facial imitation effects on emotional face recognition under embodied emotions is investigated by using recognition and judgment paradigm.Conclusion:(1)Facial muscle control can effectively induce subjects' emotions;(2)Positive physical behavior state is faster than negative physical behavior state in identifying positive face pictures and slower in identifying negative face pictures.(3)Negative embodied behavior state is faster than positive embodied behavior state in identifying negative emotions and slower in identifying positive emotions.(4)When recognizing positive face pictures,mouth cues play a greater role,while eye cues play a greater role in recognizing negative face pictures.(5)Recognition of emotional face pictures under physical emotions is influenced by facial imitation effect and local cues.
