Since the time when logical thinking was proposed in translation practice, logical translation has been attracting increasing attention and it has been gradually coming into being as a subject.Translators tend to use more and more logical mind in their translation. As a result, the concept of logical thinking has become a translator's non-negligible concern. This thesis first reviews the definition and significance of logical translation, and then elaborates, from different perspectives, its application in the English-Chinese translation of texts of agricultural science and technology. Here, the application of general logic is illustrated from three aspects, namely, concept, judgment and inference. When the concept of a word in the source text is correctly understood and the above or following text is judged and inferred rightly, the translator will be able to choose an appropriate word in the target language and construct clearer and more understandable sentences therein.Scientific logic is demonstrated to be useful and significant when used at different levels,i.e.at the levels of word, sentence, paragraph and text. Also, sufficient examples are given to elaborate its important function and significance for a clear, sensible, appropriate translation. In short, this paper presents a detailed introduction of logical inference in translating texts of agricultural sciences.
