The Construction Of The Dual Identity Of Contemporary Photography-the Research On RongRong's Photography

RongRong,as an important participant and witness of the development of Chinese contemporary photography in 1990s,he found that the educational situation of photography in China is so backward that he founded Three Shadows and cultivate Chinese young emerging photographers.As both an artist and a manager,It's worthy to do the research on RongRong both on his personal works or social contribution.This thesis does the research on RongRong's individual events by collecting and sorting out his works,diaries,interviews,exhibitions and photobooks,and it founds the process that RongRong became a self-conscious performance photographer from a recorder by means of analyzing documents,investigating,analyzing photos,comparing,example-illustration and unscrambling his style through his dimention on photographic arts.Combining the history of contemporary photography with the birth,development and sublimation of RongRong's art style,and then summarizes RongRong's photography as the following:firstly,Three Shadows restores the three-dimentioanl RongRong in the development of contemporary photography and discourse the process of the development and educational achievement of the Three Shadows while tracing to the system points of development of contemporary photography,by putting RongRong into the history of Chinese contemporary photography.Secondly,directed body photography.In early 1990s,RongRong created works with artists in Dongcun.Photography,as the medium,was taken part in the action art for the first time.Directed body photography had been used thoughout the next few years of RongRong's photography,and it became an unique"Self-Directed Photography".Thirdly,Post-mo private photography.As a method of photography,selfie was changed to "Diary Selfie" by RongRong.The RongRong's Post-mo private photography style was founded with the advance of ideas and the tradition of techniques.
