As the continuous deepening of the opening-up policy,China's comprehensive national strength is increasing constantly.The time of “completely importing” is becoming history,while the “output” of Chinese excellent culture shows its significance in the course of realizing globalized dissemination of Chinese culture.Nowadays,the internet popularity in China is sky-rocketing.As a result,the internet has become an emerging front-line in Chinese cultural output.Involving traditional culture as well as internet culture,video game also takes an important position at the globalized dissemination of Chinese culture.That means a large number of brilliant translators are needed in this section to realize domestic video games reaching to the world.More importantly,attentions should be drawn to the translation of video games.However,the number of domestic studies about video game translation are very limited,while the guiding theories applied by those researches are around functionalists theory or skopos theory.The translational methods in analyses or practices from those are majorly focusing on “literal translation and free translation” or “domestication and foreignization” etc.Despite of that,the entertaining fact of video games has embedded simplicity into the effect of game texts,while its abundant cultural images make the game texts complex.So this thesis is based on the newly emerged translational theory as eco-translatology.Because eco-translatology not only brings a new branch to the theoretical study of game text translation,but also dialectically interprets the simplicity and complexity within the game texts through providing a macroscopic and open perspective.Besides,its sufficient translational principles such as translational eco-environment,“three dimensional” transformation,provides reasonable directions for the translators engaged in video game translation.This thesis mainly uses case study as the research methodology by analyzing the most famous video game--League of Legends.It points out the translator's specific selections for the adaption to the game's translational eco-environment based on the eco-translatology theory.And then,at the guidance of “three dimensional” transformation method and multidimensional integration method,it analyzes the game texts by discussing its translational advantages and disadvantages.Afterwards it tries to find out the rules on the translator's adaptive selection so as to probe into the feasible directions in game text translation.After the analysis,it can be concluded that: macroscopically speaking,to the purpose of a best translation which can pass all the censorship,the translator should firstly make adaptive selections to the game's translational eco-environment after he fully understands its restraints and inspirations from the analysis;while in an open perspective,the translator should take all the features reflected from the game texts into consideration for the balancing of multidimensional transformation,and then take out the translation activity in an open way.From above,it's actually confirmed that eco-translatology has displayed its profound meaning in conducting video game translation studies.
