This paper is a translation practice report on C-E translation of “Introduction to Lidu Town”.The source text is a government publicity-oriented material about a model town in Jiangxi Province. It covers several fields of Lidu Town such as history, culture, urbanization, enterprises, trades and legends. In the process of translation, the severest challenge faced by the author is how to cope with Chinese four-character structures and non-subject sentences, which is also the main research content of this report. At present, some theoretical researches have been done on the translation of Chinese four-character structures and non-subject sentences in China, however, translation strategies proposed by these scholars are not fully feasible as regards this translation practice. Thus,on the basis of former researches and after an analysis of the translation material, the author puts forward relevant solutions that for the translation of four-character structures, she uses different translation methods such as conversion, combination, omission, and liberal translation with notes contextually;as for the translation of non-subject sentences, she adopts the translation methods of amplification and conversion of sentence voice accordingly. Therefore, the author presents this report in the hope that it could be a reference to the translation of similar texts, and at the same time, help to promote the foreign trade, and to publicize the history and culture of her hometown.
