A Report On E-C Translation Of Tourist Brochures Of Thailand And Singapore

With the rapid development of the world's tourism industry,tourism has been known as the largest industry in the world.The flourishing development of tourism has stimulated the enthusiasm of Chinese tourists for outbound tourism.Moreover,the quality of tourist brochures has an important in fluence on the choice of tourists.This report,which makes the case study of Thailand and Singapore tourist brochures,selects the principle of translation of this project by analyzing the characteristics of general tourism English text and the text of this project.Next,it analyzes the translation from the lexical and syntactic aspects,which has a detailed exploration of the translation of proper names and the historical background and Southeast Asian culture contained in cultural nouns are also sorted out in this part.Then,the report explicitly demonstrates the application of the literal translation with annotation,the free translation approach,divis ion and amplification.At last,it summarizes up the findings and experiences from this translation p ractice and points out its deficiency.This report is intended to help translators of tourism texts to improve their translation of such texts and provide reference for the translation of the touris t brochures for travel agencies.
